Purpose of Role and Overall Responsibility
As the Group Payroll Manager at nShift, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing payroll operations across multiple European countries, including the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Romania, and Germany. This role requires a strategic yet hands-on approach to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing through a combination of internal systems and external payroll providers. You will act as the key liaison between the People team, Finance team, and third-party payroll providers to drive efficient and standardized payroll processes across our international locations.
You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing internal payroll processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and optimising payroll operations for efficiency and accuracy. About you
- Experienced in managing multi-country payroll operations across Europe, ideally with exposure to our key locations (UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Romania, and Germany).
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements in Nordic Countries.
- Proven ability to manage both internal payroll processes and collaborate with external payroll providers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Finance, HR, and external vendors.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to drive process improvements
Competency and experience
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in payroll management, with a focus on multi-country payroll.
- Experience working with European payroll providers and managing outsourced payroll solutions.
- Strong understanding of payroll-related financial processes, tax requirements, and compliance regulations across Europe.
- Previous experience designing and implementing payroll processes in a multinational company.
- Familiarity with HR and Finance systems and how they integrate with payroll operations.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages would be a plus.
