Purpose of Role
As a Group Accountant within the Group Finance Team at nShift, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of monthly closings and meeting the Group’s statutory compliance obligations. Your expertise in Norwegian financial regulations and fluency in the language will position you as the go-to specialist for our Norwegian entities.
Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, you will support the preparation of annual financial statements, tax returns, and regulatory reporting across the group. Your contribution will be integral to delivering high-quality financial reporting, driving continuous improvement, and building a high-performing, collaborative finance team within our international organization.
About you
You are a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional, driven by a desire for continuous improvement and operational excellence. You thrive under pressure, manage multiple deadlines effectively, and demonstrate strong initiative and problem-solving abilities. Pragmatic, hands-on, and highly organized, you bring a collaborative mindset and a can-do attitude to every task.
The area of responsibility includes:
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes, including journal entries, fixed asset depreciation, accruals, and intercompany transactions
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
- Timely submission of VAT returns and compliance with local VAT regulations
- Accurately record personnel costs and support related reporting to Norwegian tax authorities
- Act as the subject matter expert for compliance and regulatory reporting for Norwegian entities
- Assist in the preparation of audit deliverables, statutory financial statements, and tax filings
- Proactively develop and enhance accounting processes and routines
- Provide accounting and system support to team members and stakeholders
- Collaborate with business control, treasury, credit control, and other departments on finance-related matters
- Participate in ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by senior leadership
Competence and experience:
- Fluency in Norwegian and English is essential
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial control
- Strong understanding of Norwegian GAAP, VAT regulations, and tax compliance
- Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements and tax documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite or other cloud-based ERP systems is a plus
